Tropic Of Norway

Usually when you think of Norway, you think Santa Claus, cross-country skiing and reindeer. We do, however, have a few months of summer thankyouverymuch and on the day I shot with the most adorable brothers ever, you would have thought we were in the tropics it was so warm.

Robin and Leo are two of the cutest boys who I really enjoyed spending a few hours with. We played, we joked, we laughed, but I think the most fun they had was being allowed to jump on the bed I brought with me. I asked Robin if he was allowed to jump on the bed at home. He said 'YEP!!!". Shhhh Robin...you're supposed to keep some secrets to yourself!! :)

Thank you so much Susan and Jan Petter.... I had a blast, especially getting THAT bed into THAT field :).

City Girls

I LOVE the city. You can go around any corner and there you go. Location location location. Oslo is no different than any other major city. There is beauty where you least expect it and you don't have to go far to find it.

I had so much fun with Miranda and Cecilia. They were troopers as well. We would walk a bit and all of a sudden I would say STOOOOP!! Oh wow, look at that! We have to do some pictures here! :) I think I wore that out after the 10th time or so, but they were as energetic as most kids their age! We had a blast and since I only have boys, I was in 7th heaven helping pick out clothes for the day.

Thank you so much for inviting me to spend the evening shooting your wonderful girls Jennifer! Safe trip back to Norway!

Boys Have A Special Place In Their Mamma's Heart

There is something about boys. I wanted to be one when I was little, my mom can attest to that. I was forever trying to do everything the boys did and do it better. Dirt..grease...baseball. I wanted to run faster and jump higher. Sure, I had dolls. I liked to cut their hair off LOL. But, something I knew, even way back then, was that I could talk...well, boy. So having two boys just seemed natural to me, and mom's of boys know that there is just something about the bond between a mother and her son that completes your heart.

So, then I meet Kasper, my latest newborn. A wee, tiny feisty little fella, who definitely was a small challenge but soo incredibly adorable...and fussy...and hungry. Just a new little being in this world who was making sure that the world knew he didn't like it one little bit!  But Kasper, as all souls before him, has already claimed a special place in his parents hearts, and mine!  Thank you Hilde and Tom Inge for sharing your sweet little prince with me! He was wonderful!

First By Car, Then By Boat and Then My Friends You Are in Paradise.

Ildjernet, Norway. It's one of the prettiest places I've seen lately and it's only a 20 minute boatride from Oslo. I had the pleasure of shooting probably the most unique set of twins I've ever met. Fiona and London are two beautiful young girls who couldn't be any different from each other if they had been born on different birthdays. One a chatterbox, the other quiet and reserved, they were such a joy to photograph and get to know through my day spent on the island.

These two little beauties were so photogenic and were willing to do pretty much everything I asked! They were total troopers as well.  I mean, even professional models get tired after a long day of shooting!

Thank you so much for inviting me into your home and allowing me to spend some time with your wonderful grandchildren Dolores! I hope they had a safe journey back to the US!

When It Rains, It Pours!

No, I'm not just talking about our miserable weather either. Although I would like summer to come TO STAY, rather than teasing us with one day of gorgeous-ness :) .

However, I just wanted to let everyone know that my email is finally up and running after a very long week without. We also discovered that email being sent to info@lisarostoen.com has been finding it's way to the junk mail folder. I apologize if you have sent mail to this address and not received a response. This has now been sorted and mail is finding it's way to the right place :) .

We have a few slots left still for July, so if you are considering having a session during summer vacation, don't hesitate to email me so we can fit you in.

Looking forward to hearing from you and lets all hope for some decent weather to warm us all up!

And the winners are...................................

Ok, here goes again.  Of course when it rains, it pours. This is my billionth attempt trying to post on the blog today due to bugs with my bloghost, so hopefully this will stick.

First of all, I wanted to just say how wonderful it was to meet all of you yesterday at the 4th of July festival in Oslo. We were blessed with beautiful weather, mouth-watering country food, great music and an overall wonderful program to celebrate our independence.  I want to thank all of you who stopped by the booth yesterday, it was lovely to meet you and I hope that we will
be working together in the future!

Secondly, I'm going to apologize about the delay. My internet has been down since yesterday and I'm not sure when it's going to be fixed. So I wouldn't leave everyone hanging for so long, I borrowed a neighbor's
internet. I promise I will return all emails as soon as it is up and running again.

Ok, ok...LOL, I know you are all dying to know who the winner's are. That's right winnerS! I had such an overwhelming response yesterday that I decided to give 2 children's photosessions instead of one. The prize is good for one photosession including all children in your immediate family (brothers and sisters). This is for the photosession only and does not include prints. The prize cannot be exchanged for the cash equivalent.

So without further ado, the winners are (personal info blurred for protection).............................

Raffle1 Raffle2 Raffle3 Raffle4

Congratulations to you both and I will be contacting you as soon as my internet is up and running again! For everyone else, I didn't want to leave you empty handed! So, for every photosession booked in June, July and August, you will receive a 10% discount on all Fotografix Studios items (including session fee) and a brag book free of charge(smaller sized album of your favorite images which you can easily take with you).

Have a wonderful day!

Meet Alexander - a 3 week old babydoll

I had the pleasure of shooting Alexander yesterday and it was SOOO much fun. I love it when they finally get into that really deep sleep and you can pretty much do anything with them you want. Seriously, we had his diaper off for about an hour and not one mishap....well, until he woke up and I STILL left the diaper off. Sorry Alexander!

Takk Sissel for noen hyggelig timer med liten prinsen din. Han er nydelig!

The Possibilities Are Endless

Max. He is truly my mini-me. He might be the spitting image of my husband, Even, but he is sooo like me in temperament (and ..ermm stubbornness) that Even often walks around with this glazed look in his eyes, trying to figure out how to cope with TWO of me. HAHA.

But, what can I say. We are truly blessed to have these boys.  I can honestly say I've loved them from the moment we first met, that first movement in utero, just like the feel of a fish nibbling on a fishing line. That very instant a mother feels the life growing within her is indescribable. One minute it's just you and the knowledge that you are going to be a mom...the next, they nudge you as if to say 'hi there, it's me!' It truly is the start of a wondrous bond between a mother and child.

Anyway, I'm 100% sure I'm in trouble when these boys get older :) . If anyone knows where I can buy some sanity, I'll be forever in your debt.

Where the Wild Things Are

Ok...I have a confession to make. I LOVE MY JOB! Oh my gosh, how many people have you met in your life that can say this very phrase, enthusiastically, and they aren't being sarcastic? HEHE that's me. Especially after my newest photo session.

I can't tell you how excited I was to be contacted by Mari and Ida. They made my job so easy! Not only do they have the two cutest 6 month olds I've seen in a LONG time, but they wanted outdoor pictures...in the woods. WOOO HOO!!! :)  Now that spring has come in the form of seas of hvitveis (white anemone to those of you in the US),  I have the chance to emerge from that grey, colorless cocoon called winter. Get ready for an explosion of color!

So, without further ado, meet Nikolina and Sofia! Tusen hjertelig takk Mari og Ida - jeg hadde det kjempe gøy og barna deres er bare HERLIG! - ♥ Lisa

"In The Hands of Giants.."

"ever are the children."

Earthday. The environment. Global warming, erratic weather, overfishing.... It seems that the environment has been a hot topic for the last 20 years. But now that I have children, the fate of our planet takes on an even greater meaning. What can I do today so that my children have this wonderful place of beauty to enjoy when they are grown? Or most importantly, what can YOU do?

I believe the fate of the world rests in the hands of our children. Teach them to be proud of their planet.

He's Got The Whole World In His Hands
